Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, Oranienburg, 28.06.2014

My first thought is that surely there can‘t be enough parking spots for visitors. But I‘m wrong.

A perforated concrete wall. Behind the ticket office are models of the camp.

Then you‘re on the road that takes you to this unspeakable place. It seems to go on forever.

It‘s so big that visitors blend into the camp‘s distance.

How many people who came here only had to walk in one direction? Only a lucky handful could walk back out into freedom.

"Arbeit macht frei!"

Everything level. A concrete wasteland. You get to the barracks by going left along the perimeter. Next to them are sheds for special inmates. I have to lie flat on the ground to take pictures. It‘s good!
